REFUGING 2020–2024

Refuging is a multi-year exploration of the concept of refuge and a call-to-action for artists to develop the practice of giving/taking refuge.

In this project, initiated by Rejmyre Art Lab’s co-founder Daniel Peltz, we reconsider the notion of refuge, not as a noun (a refuge, a refugee, etc.) but as a verb, a vital, inherently reciprocal set of actions.

The refuging research strand began with Peltz’ participatory, architectural performance Refuging in Rejmyre and continued in 2023, inside a production residency program in which 6 artists contributed works to a Refuging Toolkit furthering our understanding of practices of refuging.
