Beatrice about her time in Rejmyre: “My work consists of material-based processes, performative film and installation. I engage with nature as an extension of my body and refer to queer ecology in my work. Environmental narratives, sustainability and bodily relationships are central to my practice. In addition, intuition, play and spontaneity essential to my process, as I strive for a sense of belonging to the earth in general and being in specific contact with its elements and materials. In Rejmyre I took daily walks and collected my material from scattered pine and white cedar trunks. Working with wood, I was fascinated by the patterns, sap, shades, fragrance and texture that I discovered in the carving. I created pockets and holes, carved paths for shelter, like insects and beavers. The act of seeking refuge was very present in the work of the carver and by placing found shards of glass in the vessels.”
