Samin about her time in Rejmyre: “Being an artist based in Rejmyre for a couple of weeks inspired me to think over the question of refuge and the practice of belonging.”
Samin Asri is an artist from Iran, based in Sweden. She works interdisciplinary with sculpture and installation. During the residency in Rejmyre she created the work The shelter is within us. It is an installation that intends to question and highlight the importance and questioning of the situations of entanglement and displacement that can happen to anyone, including newcomers and outsiders; to determine how notions of shelter/refuge are conceptualized in people based on their lived experience.
