Klas Isaksson is an artist and musician based in Norrköping. He works with sound, image, video, and community-building. He is one sixth of the band Den Svenska Björnstammen and runs Evigheten, a space for electronic music and art in Norrköping.
In the Refuge Pavilion, Klas will work on the project Fear will control your life, love will set you free, by recording compositions that have been waiting in his machines to be captured. He also plans to include field recordings from Rejmyre. The process will culminate in a live performance in the pavilion on November 1st. Keep an eye on our calendar and newsletter for more information about this!
“Fear will control your life, love will set you free is both the title of the project and a metaphysical assumption: that fear is a force that binds, restricts, and controls, while love – understood as an active practice – is a force that leads to freedom, wholeness, and creativity. It is not merely a phrase, but an existential proposition about our nature. Within this project, the title functions simultaneously as direction, method, and theme. The electronic music is created live, with the intention of shaping an atmosphere that can function as a room for the project.” – Klas Isaksson
Klas Isaksson studied at Norrköping Art School, the Comic Art School in Malmö, and for two days at HDK-Valand. He has published the book Evig Lycka with Galago Publishing, and has been awarded the Moa Martinson Cultural Grant as well as winning prizes such as P3 Guld and Rockbjörnen.
