Rejmyre Art Lab is honored to present three distinguished artists from Östergötland. This autumn, the beautiful exhibition space in Engelska Magasinet will be filled with a joyful display of painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture.

Ulf Lundkvist is one of Sweden’s most beloved cartoonists, who has influenced an entire generation with his expressive, witty, and richly imaginative characters. Best known for comic series such as Assar, Lundkvist also works in painting and sculpture. This exhibition offers the opportunity to explore new sides of his artistic practice, including a series of large wooden sculptures never before shown to the public.

Per Josefsson has had a prominent career as one of Östergötland’s most versatile artists. His practice spans painting, printmaking, sculpture, and public art. Josefsson has also played a vital role in the region’s cultural life as director of Norrköping Art School and as one of the founders of the artist collective KIFIN in Norrköping. Engelska Magasinet’s current role as an exhibition hall is also thanks in large part to Josefsson, who, together with Nisse Sandström and a group of local enthusiasts, initiated exhibitions in the space in 2007.

Nisse Sandström is best known as a saxophonist and radio host. Many have listened to him spin records on his jazz program on Swedish Radio and share stories from his international career and encounters with the greatest figures of the jazz world. What is lesser known is that Sandström is also an accomplished and well-regarded painter. In Engelska Magasinet, visitors can discover his colorful and detailed depictions of everyday life and childhood scenes.

Since 2020, Rejmyre Art Lab has organized exhibitions at Engelska Magasinet. The exhibition program is part of Rejmyre Art Lab’s broader activities, which also include thematic artistic research projects, artist-in-residence programs, site-specific installations, seminars, workshops, and programs for children and youth.
