RESONANCE OF DARKNESS IIKonsthallen Engelska Magasinet, Rejmyre
November 2nd, 2024–March 8th, 2025
Resonance of Darkness II is an exhibition composed for darkness, light, and viewer, where understated works faintly whisper light and draw breath in an increasingly rare darkness.
Anna Berglind (b. 1961) is a multidisciplinary artist working in Sweden and internationally. Her artistic themes address existential questions concerning human existence on earth, and how the ways we live and act affect both ourselves and other species. For several decades, she has explored light – as well as the absence of light – in works that thematically move within the area between memory and forgetting; center and periphery.
In Resonance of Darkness II she investigates how artificial light can be seen as a form of pollution, influencing the rhythms of humans, animals, insects, and plants alike. What dimensions and qualities of darkness are now being lost in over-illuminated cities, in this age of light pollution? Through a series of works where darkness plays a central role, visitors are invited to explore how light is absorbed, reflected, or refracted in different ways. This is an exhibition where darkness has taken refuge, a sanctuary for rest and for dreaming.
The exhibition also includes sound works by Rikard Vilhelm Lindell.
